With covers like this, I think it's safe to say that collegiate a cappella continues to have momentum on its side.
One of the biggest draws for me personally when it comes to a cappella music versus other musical and art forms...it is constantly forward moving. Where other genres may stay in their comfort zone or even revert back to their signature roots, a cappella fuses so much of what's going on around it to make it, it's own masterpiece.
CSUN's Acasola uses this performance of "Never Forget You" by Zara Larsson and MNEK to display so much. The group's cover fuses a mix of house, pop and RnB to weave a lively canvas of beautiful music that highlights some talented soloists and each of their unique styles.
The contrast between the various leads and their ability to harmonize so gracefully is what makes the whole performance for me. Additionally, I applaud the group's decision to make this into a music video depicting some gorgeous landscapes, instead of a stage performance.
