Sometimes, we just like our music on the dramatic side.
I know that "dramatic" can often have a negative connotation, but this is not the case when dealing with Middlebury College's Bobolinks. For the sake of this particular discussion, dramatic is a very fitting word.
The group's rendition of the popular Civil Wars' song "The One That Got Away" is striking in almost every instance, engulfing you at every turn. And the double female lead suits the Bobolinks well, as the voices sync up in great fashion.
The Civil Wars were often known for their, at times, dark, indie folk vibe often expressed in ballad form. The atmosphere they could create was haunting to say the least, and the Bobolinks nail this interpretation in commendable form.
