I think more than anything, indie music is great at evoking a particular feeling from its audience.
The feeling can be joy, sorrow, or even being inspired to act. In BORNS song "Past Lives" the idea of lost love or one being reflected on is very prominent. In the JHU Octopodes' rendition, one could argue that it's felt even stronger. What makes this so? The entire group's collective energy being thrust into what they are singing with no reservations. It all culminates into a musical journey of rivers and valleys of beautiful singing with constant moments of connection between us, the listeners, and the Octopodes.
